Our Children Oregon’s Executive Director, Jenifer Wagley, has announced that she will transition from her role in the summer of 2024. The Our Children Oregon Board of Directors will undertake a national search for a new leader.

Wagley and her family will remain in Oregon where she, her wife, and their boys are thriving, and the depth of connections and love for their new home has blossomed.

Jenifer has stated:

“I am proud to be the Founding Executive Director of Our Children Oregon, (OCO) serving this work since May of 2019. I am excited to see what the next five, ten, and twenty years will bring to the children of Oregon, because of OCO. I know Oregonians will continue to work together to improve the lives of all children across the state, and OCO will continue to lean in to ensure that all children can thrive no matter their race, place, ability, or identity. Much has been accomplished, but there is still much to do.

It’s with much accomplished at OCO, that I’m announcing that I am leaving my leadership role with Our Children Oregon during the summer of 2024.”

OCO’s Board of Directors will conduct a national search for Our Children Oregon’s next leader and I will ensure OCO continues to be strong and healthy as the leadership transition is implemented. I know that Team OCO and its Board of Directors will find the perfect next leader to continue moving this established and influential organization forward.

Our Children Oregon's Board of Directors shared:

“With careful consideration, the OCO Board has accepted the resignation of Jenifer Wagley, Our Children of Oregon’s executive director. Jenifer has provided outstanding leadership, beginning with the merger of our legacy organizations, Children First For Oregon and the Children’s Trust For Oregon, in 2019, which led to the successful launch of Our Children Oregon in April 2020. Through Jenifer’s leadership, Our Children Oregon is a strong, thriving, impactful, independent, whole-child advocacy organization. Jenifer has been remarkable in growing and guiding this organization to become a facilitator of over a hundred statewide partner organizations, consistently creating positive, visionary policy change for the children and youth of our state. It has been our privilege to work with Jenifer these past five years, and we are grateful for her partnership as we prepare for the next period of growth, advocacy, and vision for the children of Oregon.

The OCO Board of Directors will conduct a national search for Our Children Oregon’s next leader and will ensure OCO continues to be strong and healthy as the leadership transition is implemented.  We anticipate supporting the organization with an interim executive director through the summer while also launching a concurrent executive search process before the end of May. Our goal is to provide an open and transparent transition process, making final offers to applicants in early fall.

In service to our commitment to ensure a successful transition, the Board will engage the services of a local, reputable executive search firm to develop a comprehensive, culturally responsive transition plan. OCO’s transition plan will ensure the stability and continuity of the organization, engage staff and other key stakeholders in the process as well as develop a robust onboarding and success plan for the next executive director.

On behalf of the board of directors, we want to thank Jenifer for her service to OCO and appreciate all that she has done to make this transition a success.
