Children First for Oregon is awarded $6000 by the eWomenNetwork Foundation for its dedication to improving the lives of women and children. The Center’s Representative, Toni Hunt, attended the eWomenNetwork Entrepreneurial Conference & Expo on August 4th at the Hyatt Hotel in Dallas where she received the award on stage during their Foundation Awards Ceremony and Luncheon.
eWomenNetwork has 118 chapters throughout North America. Members of each chapter raise funds for the foundation throughout the year, which they then distribute to a charitable organization in the local area.
Tonia Hunt received the award on behalf of Children First for Oregon from eWomenNetwork CEO & Founder, Sandra Yancey. Tonia was also joined on stage by her sponsor, the eWomenNetwork Portland, OR Chapter Managing Director, Stephanie Arnheim, along with Briana Dai, CEO & Founder of Beauty Boss Network and eWomenNetwork Foundation Advisory Council Member, Teresa Danuser.
Children First for Oregon was founded in 1991 to improve the lives of Oregon’s children by galvanizing community support and informing decision-makers about what kids need to thrive. They recognize that children are a distinct population with rights and requirements, and they are devoted to raising the profile of children in Oregon and championing community-led, data-driven solutions. By spurring collective action, they seek to make Oregon the best place to be a kid.
Data is at the core of what we do at Children First. Every year we release the Oregon County Data Book, an expert data resource on the well-being of kids in our state. This report and other data-driven analyses provide the information needed to back systemic improvements that will benefit kids.
Children First also collaborates with other organizations including Oregon Foster Youth Connection, a statewide, youth-led advocacy group that trains and empowers current and former foster youth to improve Oregon’s foster care system, United for Kids, a community of advocates working together to engage policymakers in finding and investing in solutions for kids and the Children’s Trust Fund of Oregon (CTFO), a community of providers, parents, and supporters who are committed to ending child abuse in Oregon.
