Rapidly accelerating climate change is causing devastating and deadly wildfires, ice storms, and extreme heat across Oregon. We must protect Oregon workers on the frontlines of the climate crisis by guaranteeing the “right to safe work” if they reasonably refuse hazardous work.

In 2009, Oregon passed SB 637, School Integrated Pest Management Law, which was one of the nation’s strongest rules to reduce pesticide use in schools. More than a decade later, this bill is in need of modernization to ensure toxic-free learning environments for children.

Thousands of chemicals lurk in products our kids use every day, and children are far more vulnerable to toxics than adults. This bill builds builds on the success of the Oregon Toxic Free Kids Act by strengthening protections for children’s health and streamlining business reporting requirements.

Cosmetic and personal care products that we use every day contain many chemicals that are hazardous to our health and pose a significant health threat for children. We can act by banning the sale of the worst chemicals and ensuring accessible information on the chemicals used in products.
